Review

YPOPs! 0.9.7.3 is a program that gives you POP3 and SMTP access to your Yahoo! Mail. As you know, Yahoo! offers free webmail for everyone. But you will need to pay a fee, if you want to use your @yahoo.com account from your preferred email client (Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, Eudora, The Bat!, etc.) to receive or send messages, instead of the Yahoo! web page. YPOPs! will act as a POP3 and SMTP server, installed in your own PC. So, all you have to do is install the program and change the addresses of your email servers (both incoming and outgoing) to 127.0.0.1, which is the IP that YPOPs! will have, Then, your email client will connect to the YPOPs! internal server, that will then connect to your Yahoo! account, will send the outgoing messages and will receive the incoming messages. You will then be able to manage your account as you do with other POP3 account. You will even be able to tell the program to leave a copy of the messages in the server, if you want to see your emails from another computer, or keep a copy just in case. Be sure to unblock the access to the Internet for YPOPs!, otherwise it won´t work.
Advantages
  • It´s free.
  • Gives you a nice solution to manage your Yahoo! mail account more comfortably.
Disadvantages
  • Sometimes, configuring the program to work fine is tricky.
